Film producer Kara Ford has built a diverse career in independent filmmaking, producing short films, feature-length projects, and TV series. Her production credits include the festival-winning Life’s Passing Me By, and the acclaimed web series Producing Juliet with Ward Picture Company. As a producer at Black Noise Media, she worked on the award-winning short film The Trade and the BRIC TV series Soul Kings. Kara also directed the short film Heads or Tails, which aired nationwide, and developed safety protocols for indie filmmakers during the pandemic.
A member of New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT), Kara has hosted screenings and co-hosted awards shows for the Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival. She has also advised the ActNow Foundation, and served as Arts and Culture Editor and Acting Editor-in-Chief for BlackandBrownNews.com.
Her first book, “How to Produce Your No/Low-Budget Film,” shares valuable insights on filmmaking, film production, and navigating the indie film industry, making it an essential read for aspiring producers and filmmakers.
