This short coming-of-age drama explores the relationship between Alonzo, a young single father and his budding daughter, Ruth who have packed their city life into a truck and are heading south to return to the rural community where he was raised.
During their trip, Alonzo makes several stops as he grapples with the challenges of his perceived failures and having to face his father. He uses nostalgia as a mask to cloak his real intentions which are not to return home but to drop Ruth off to live with her Grandfather.
Ruth, with her nose in her sketchbook, is curious yet fearful of her changing environment. She longs to feel a connection which she finds upon returning to her roots. After their arrival, Alonzo’s inability to settle himself within his fathers world leads him away, leaving Ruth with only a letter and a new world to navigate.
